I saw an article that mentioned that Ken Adam had passed away and that got me thinking about this model. I always credit Ralph McQuarrie for this, because it was his concept paintings that got me thinking about how to Trek it up some, but Adam also made some sketches of the ship. I'm not entirely certain who came up with it first but in any event, they both worked on it. So here's an update after almost three years. Still under construction of course.

Star Trek: USS Edward Teller NX-27CLN Rebuild
Well it's been a year since Ralph McQuarrie passed away so as my own unworthy tribute I decided to get back to work on my version of his Planet of the Titans USS Enterprise. I'm still calling it the Edward Teller while it's under construction, just because, well I felt like it. Anyway, Everything has been rebuilt, the only piece I didn't completely rebuild yet, emphasis on yet, is that botanical garden under the landing bay. Still have a long way to go, obviously some parts have gotten a little more attention than others but I like the over look. This time around I made the secondary hull one piece instead of wings and hull being separate pieces. I am aware that some people think you can have anything in front of the bussard caps but, they are simply demonstrating wrong thinking. And here's some pics...

Battlestar Galactica: Galactica Redesign
Did a small amount of work on this model today. Mainly just rebuilt the hangar pods, and worked on the engines a little. Mostly it's just a lot of tweaking here and there to get the shape to look right to me. Since it's a redesign I don't have to worry about accuracy but it still has to look right proportionately. Considering how many unfinished models I have, I really don't have any business tinkering with this one, once you start greebling this is going to be as complex as a Star Destroyer...

Star Trek: USS Edward Teller NX-27CLN Update
Got some more texture work done. Still trying to keep it subtle and yet have something there to break up the expanse of the primary hull. I'm going to add in some hatches here and there but I don't plan on any grid lines. I never really much cared for the view of the ship from the front, but this second pic here doesn't look half bad.

Star Trek: USS Edward Teller NX-27CLN Update
So I've done some more work on this one, just to break the monotony I switch back and forth between my models. I was never happy with the bridge on this thing but now I think I've struck more of happy medium between Ralph McQuarrie and more tradition Trek designs. I'm still tinkering with it. The dish telescopes out of the housing and the dome reverses itself to become the dish. That might be confusing to read but, yeah...
Oh yeah, I've gotten a couple of e-mails (which I haven't yet answered, I'm sorry) asking where's all the Star Wars stuff? I'm going to put it up, I swear, I've just been busy. I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!

Star Trek: Planet of the Titans
I've been working on this monster for years. This is based on the Ralph McQuarrie concept work for the movie that never was, Planet of the Titans. There's some good articles about the movie over at Forgotten Trek. This is about as far as I went with this model as a USS Enterprise version. I've continued working on it as the USS Edward Teller and currently I'm finishing texturing the big girl.
